GIBBOOST SP

(900g/kg Gibberellic Acid)

  • Gibberellic Acid is a naturally occurring hormone, it stimulates growth resulting in leaf and stem elongation

  • Great boost to pasture growth and dry matter

  • Apply 3-5 days after grazing/cutting or when there is adequate leaf for uptake

  • Graze 3-4 weeks after application

  • For best results apply with Liquid N and Triacontanol

  • Use with EnergHi to get up to another 15% boost

  • Application Rate: 9 grams per/Ha

  • Must be used with Surfactant for best results

  • Sold in a 90gram Aluminium foil sachet to cover 10Ha, or 900gram to cover 100ha, or we can dissolve it for you and supply in liquid form. See SuperGib

  • Apply with 100-150L of water or Liquid Fertiliser per/Ha

What is Gibberellic Acid?

Gibberellic Acid (GA3) is a naturally occurring plant hormone that promotes cell elongation and plant growth. It is commonly used in New Zealand pasture systems to increase pasture growth during periods when cooler temperatures naturally slow growth rates.

When applied to actively growing ryegrass, Gibberellic Acid encourages leaf expansion and stem elongation, allowing the plant to produce additional dry matter during autumn, winter and early spring.

For many dairy, sheep, beef and deer farmers, Gibberellic Acid is used as a strategic feed management tool to help bridge seasonal feed deficits and improve pasture supply when it is needed most.

Why Farmers Use Gibboost

Fill Feed Deficits

When feed demand exceeds pasture growth, Gibboost can help bring feed forward.

Increase Dry Matter Production

Responses typically range from 200-500kg DM/ha and can be higher under ideal growing conditions.

Improve Return on Nitrogen

Many farmers combine Gibboost with Liquid N to maximise pasture response and reduce the amount of nitrogen required.

Cost Effective Feed

At 300kg DM response and approximately $9/ha product cost, the feed produced can be extremely cost competitive compared with purchased supplements.

When Should Gibberellic Acid Be Applied?

Autumn

Build pasture covers before winter.

Winter

Increase pasture growth during periods of low growth.

Early Spring

Bring feed forward to support calving and lambing.

Summer

Generally less effective unless moisture conditions are favourable.

How Much Extra Grass Can Gibboost Grow?

At recommended application rates 9g/Ha with nitrogen, initial D/M responses can range from 200-500 kg DM/ha around four weeks after application.

Why Combine Gibboost with Liquid N and EnergHi?

Liquid N

Provides nitrogen.

Gibboost

Stimulates growth.

EnergHi

Improves photosynthesis and nutrient uptake.

Surfactant

Improves coverage and uptake.

Frequently Asked Questions About Gibberellic Acid

How long before I see results from Gibboost?

Typically 15-21 days depending on temperature and moisture.

How soon can I graze after application?

There is no withholding but for best growth results generally 15-21 days after application.

Does Gibberellic Acid work on ryegrass?

Yes, ryegrass-based pastures are among the most common applications.

Can I mix Gibboost with Liquid Nitrogen?

Yes. Tank mixing with dissolved urea and Liquid N systems is commonly used.

Does Gibberellic Acid increase protein?

It primarily increases growth. Protein responses are often improved when combined with EnergHi, nitrogen and sulphur.

Does Gibboost work in winter?

Yes. Winter and early spring are often when the greatest economic response is achieved between 5-15 dec soil temp.

Can Gibboost be applied in the rain?

No do not spray if raining or rain is likely within 2 hours of spraying to ensure effective absorption onto leaf surfaces.

Gibboost gives the same or similar results to Progibb, Gibb-Gro, Gibber 900,

The application of Gibboost can be used as a tool to manipulate pasture growth and assist in matching feed supply with animal demand in the shoulders of the season when anticipated pasture growth is low. Responses are best when soil moisture and nutrients are not limited.

Recommendations are to apply 9g of Gibboost/ha plus surfactant at label rates in 100-200 L water/ha. This can be applied with most conventional boom spraying equipment.

Gibboost can be tank mixed with nitrogen without affecting its stability, provided all solutions are used on the day of preparation Do not store mixed product.

At recommended application rates 9g/Ha, initial D/M responses can range from 200-500 kg DM/ha around four weeks after application.

Say the products costs you $9/Ha incl the cost of surfactant and you get 300 kg DM/ha this is a cost of approx 3c/kg DM, plus any application costs, if you combine Gibboost with N both can be applied in the one application cost.
