Maximise Your Maize and Corn Yields with Vernado Liquid Fertilisers:

Even if your soil test indicates sufficient nutrient availability, throughout the growing season can vary. Vernado’s tailored liquid fertiliser solutions ensure that your maize or corn crop receives the right nutrients exactly when it needs them for stronger roots, healthier plants, and higher yields.

Fully dissolved as solutions, no clogging filters or nozzles.

In-Furrow Liquid Starter Fertilisers for Early Root Development:

Our in-furrow liquid fertiliser options provide precise nutrient placement for early root establishment, giving your crop a strong start. Applied as seed treatments or directly in-furrow, these formulations deliver essential macro and micronutrients where the young plant can access them easily—setting the foundation for vigorous growth and improved stress tolerance.

We Always Recommend In-Season Testing, Not Guessing:

To achieve the best results, Vernado encourages growers to use in-season soil and plant tissue SAP testing. This approach allows precise adjustments to nutrient applications based on actual crop needs, maximising nutrient use efficiency, and optimising yields.

Foliar Feeding, Efficient Nutrient Supply During Critical Growth Stages when required:

Foliar fertilisers are one of the most efficient methods for supplying nutrients during critical growing stages. By applying nutrients directly to the leaves, foliar feeding:

  • Delivers available nutrients and chelated micronutrients rapidly

  • Corrects nutrient deficiencies quickly for stressed crops

  • Maintains nutrient balance within the plant, especially when soil uptake is limited due to environmental factors

  • Can be customized and combined with other products to ensure crop success

Vernado liquid foliar fertilisers offer flexible application methods, including foliar sprays via YDrops or conventional sprayers, allowing you to adjust rates based on in-season crop testing such as SAP analysis.

Critical Nutrient Supply During Key Growth Stages:

Maize and corn plants significantly reduce nutrient uptake from soil and leaves after the inflorescence stage. Most nutrient absorption occurs between the 7-9 and 12-14 leaf stages, making this a crucial window to ensure adequate micro and macronutrient supply. Vernado’s liquid foliar fertilisers allow you to tailor nutrient applications to the crop’s evolving needs during this vital growth period, protecting yield potential and plant health.

Boosting Cob Size and Grain Fill with Late Nitrogen and Potassium Application:

Applying nitrogen and potassium with required micronutrients just before the tassel growth stage is proven to:

  • Increase cob size and improve grain filling

  • Support better plant energy during reproductive development

  • Enhance final yield quality and quantity

This timely nutrient boost supports stronger plants, promotes vigorous growth, and can reduce insect and disease pressures by improving overall plant health.

Flexible Application Methods to Match Your Farming System:

Vernado liquid fertilisers can be applied through multiple methods, including:

  • In-furrow placement

  • 2x2 banding

  • Seed treatment

  • Foliar sprays via YDrops or conventional sprayers

  • Side-dressing

  • Irrigation systems

This flexibility means you can adjust rates and nutrient blends according to soil analysis, plant sap tests, and in-season crop monitoring, ensuring nutrient use efficiency and minimal losses.

Optimised Nitrogen and Custom Nutrient Blends:

Our liquid fertiliser range will often include UAN32 and or Urea solution as excellent nitrogen sources. These can be custom blended with potassium, phosphorus, trace elements, and biological products like TM Ag to boost root health and soil biology, focusing on improving the “dreadlock” root system. Seed treatments with TM Ag and liquid fertilisers can encourage active beneficial microbes around the seed zone, enhancing nutrient uptake and early plant vigour.

Why Choose Vernado Liquid Fertilisers?

  • Scientifically formulated for maize and corn nutrient requirements

  • Supports robust early root development and nutrient availability

  • Improves nutrient use efficiency through targeted liquid delivery

  • Compatible with precision farming techniques and variable rate applications

  • Enhances plant health and yield stability with biological additives

Nitrogen N availability is one of the key factors contributing to a successful crop. A lack of nitrogen N availability is a common contributor to a poor maize crop, it is also one of the most expensive inputs, so getting the most efficiency out of this investment is critical.

Phosphate P helps particularly with root growth any shortage especially in the early development stages can hold back root development and stem nutrient uptake, which can have flow-on effects on the crop for the whole season.

Potassium K helps crops regulate water content, convert sugar to starch, cob filling and maintain plant tissue rigidity. Adequate potassium supply can help make crops less susceptible to pests and fungal attacks.

*In order to supply plants with an adequate dose of liquid N P K S and other vital elements, repeated sprays maybe required, Increasing spray concentration to save on applications may result in leaf-burn. We would recommend herbage or SAP testing to ensure the correct rates and products required are being applied.

*Spray volume should be determined according to local requirements and conditions, if unsure always do a test trial ahead of time to determine the outcome.

*Application should be avoided during hot and dry days, if application is required during hot and dry climate apply later in the evenings.
