Forage Oats
High volume forage that fills feed gaps
Forage Oats are a reliable, quick-establishing cereal option that provides valuable green feed through autumn and winter. They are widely used across dairy, beef, and sheep systems to fill feed gaps, produce silage, or provide high-quality grazing. With strong early growth, good cold tolerance, and excellent regrowth potential, Vernado’s oats give farmers flexibility and confidence when pasture supply runs short.
Sown from late summer through to late autumn, oats establish rapidly under a range of soil types and conditions. Typical sowing rates are 120 kg/ha for a stand alone crop or 90 kg/ha with 25 kg/ha Annual/Italian ryegrass.
Beyond yield, Vernado oats offer real versatility on-farm. They can be used for winter feed, green chop, or silage, and serve as a break crop that helps manage weeds, pests, and disease cycles. With proven performance and dependable quality, forage oats are an easy, low-risk way to extend your grazing window, support stock condition, and maintain performance throughout the cooler months.
