Putting nutrients on but not seeing the return?
Designed to support stronger pasture and crop performance across dairy, arable, sheep and beef, and broadacre spraying systems
Vernado’s liquid foliar fertilisers help drive strong seasonal response without relying so heavily on granular fertiliser.

Biological products designed to stimulate soil life, improve nutrient cycling, build soil resilience and support sustainable production systems.
Best for: Pasture, cropping, regenerative and organic farming systems
Suitable for: Foliar / Soil Applied / Seed Mixes
From pasture to cropping, Vernado supplies liquid fertilisers designed to suit a wide range of New Zealand farming systems. Choose from nitrogen, nitrogen-sulphur, and specialty blends for dairy, sheep and beef, arable, maize, wheat, and barley applications. Suitable for foliar, dribble bar, and fertigation use.
Granular nitrogen has its place.
But losses through leaching and lock-up can limit how much the plant actually uses. Liquid foliar fertiliser is absorbed fast and gets to work quickly, often within 72 hours. Less waste, Better response, More growth when it matters.

Liquid vs Granular Fertiliser — What NZ Farmers Actually Want to Know
-
Liquid nitrogen is absorbed directly through the leaf — it doesn't need to dissolve in soil moisture or wait on microbial breakdown. This means a faster visible response, especially in cool or dry conditions when granular urea struggles. You can also use up to 50% fewer units of nitrogen to achieve the same pasture response, which matters both economically and for regulatory compliance.
-
Most farmers see visible leaf response within 10-15 days of application, depending on conditions. Warm, overcast days with moderate humidity give the fastest response. Cold nights can slow uptake slightly, but liquid N still outperforms granular in cool autumn and winter conditions when soil temperature limits bacterial activity.
-
Yes. Vernado's liquid fertilisers are designed to be compatible with plant growth regulators including Gibberellic Acid (GibBoost SP) and Triacontanol (EnergHi). Combining liquid N with PGRs can enhance cool-season growth response significantly — this is one of Vernado's core programme recommendations for autumn, winter and spring pasture.
-
Yes — liquid nitrogen is widely used across NZ dairy farms for autumn, winter, and spring pasture management. It allows precise application rates, reduces nitrogen loss through leaching and volatilisation, and fits into existing boom spray or dribble bar setups without specialised equipment.
-
UAN (Urea Ammonium Nitrate) is a higher-concentration nitrogen product (N40 & N32) that combines urea and ammonium nitrate in liquid form. It's more suited to longer distance delivery due to the higher concentration. Liquid urea (N20.7 & N20 S5) is better suited to a limited radius from manufacture.
-
Liquid nitrogen applications, especially when combined with PGRs, can achieve equivalent or better pasture response at lower units of N — often 30–50%. This directly supports compliance with regional nitrogen caps under the NPS-FM and associated regional council plans. Less N applied means less nitrate leaching risk.
-
Yes. Vernado's liquid fertilisers are suitable for fertigation through pivot or linear irrigators. This method provides highly uniform nutrient distribution and is particularly suited to cropping and intensive vegetable/horticulture systems. How Vernado Liquid Fertiliser Gets Applied
No new gear needed for most operations. Vernado's liquid fertilisers fit into existing farm equipment and setups.
Works Well With
- GibBoost SP (Gibberellic Acid) — Stimulates cell elongation and cool-season growth response. Often mixed with liquid N for autumn/spring programmes.
- EnergHi (Triacontanol) — Natural plant biostimulant that improves nutrient uptake and photosynthesis efficiency.
- Vernado Pasture Seeds — High-digestibility ryegrass varieties that respond well to liquid N programmes.
- Biologicals / Re-Gen Range — For farms reducing synthetic inputs. Compatible with fish fertiliser.
