We have been using Vernado Liquid N Gibboost and EnergHi since 2017, our main reason for changing to liquid is the 100% uptake and we are only using half the units of N,

Because we winter milk we can use it late autumn, winter and early spring whenever we are needing feed and know we are going to get growth from it.

It is easy to store in our 15,000 L on farm tank and we just get our contractor along to apply whenever we are needing to.

It is very easy to see the response you get a very quick response of growth when you need it, and it’s complimentary to mix in other products like TM we also use with it.

“Vernado liquid N is an essential part of our family winter milking dairy farm’s operation using an all grass sustainable system.

Thanks to Vernado liquid N we have been able to grow out-of-season grass using lower rates of nitrogen compared to solid nitrogen applications.

We believe we are getting a very quick response and like the fact that the liquid system allows us to add growth promoters and soil conditioners.

This system is environmentally friendly with the boom spraying system keeping nitrogen away from waterways while the foliar application provides quick uptake”.

“We have been using Vernado liquid N fertiliser for four years on our 250Ha Dairy farm.  We are a predominantly grassed based system and split calving.  The ability to grow grass is hugely important to our closed operation.

Our farm is located in the Manawatu and the soil type is generally clay based or Ohakea loam.

Because of our heavier soils we use helicopters for the application of the liquid N and we find that this is very effective straight after winter when there is generally more moisture in the farm soils.

We are able to hit 200ha of the farm in a single application and set it up for Spring.  We can literally see the grass growing as soon as the weather warms up and the pastures had a kickstart from our liquid N.

The team at Vernado are very effective at delivering the liquid N on farm to our 25,000L tank and is filled and ready to go for the contractors to apply when the weather conditions are suitable.  Ease of application and being able to apply fertiliser to the majority of the farm in a few hours is a real advantage and saves a lot of time and money in the long run.  There is also the advantage of adding other liquids to the 'mix' if required such as TM.

Since we have been using the Vernado liquid N fertiliser we have also seen the environmental advantages of its use by reducing our N Loss over a four-year period.

Vernado liquid N fertiliser has suited our system very well and we will continue to use it in the future”.

“We sowed Dominate at the end of May and cut silage in the third week of September with a Dry matter (DM) of 11.7 ton/ha.  Our second cut in the 1st week of December yielded DM of 16.5 ton/ha.  We have been very surprised by the winter growth of Dominate compared to other species”

“I had Dominate over sown into existing 5 year pasture in late April.  Late August there was very strong growth from Dominate, estimated at twice the other.  It stands out with its flat wide leaves.  The cow’s rotation is 12 days and the growth from Dominate these past months is approximately 1600 kg/dm harvested per round with an application 30kg/ha of urea monthly.  I have a pasture sample analysed each month, 8 /year.  Dominate at late September tested 13.5 Metabolizable Energy (ME) – 18.5% Soluble Sugars and Starch (SSS) – 27.6% Protein.  The high ME and SSS at this time of year are certainly beneficial.  Higher Quality:  If pasture quality consumed can be maintained 1 MJ of ME kg, DM higher or 10% better, then extra litres of milk at peak should result.

“We are seeing some amazing changes in the Dairy Industry with a lot of choices which can be made in feeding systems e.g. Do I all grass feed? utilise a feed pad? buy in feed? and at what cost? Always keeping a watchful eye on our pay-out. Although this pay-out pushes us to drive towards more efficiencies!  It seems crazy to me to buy in feed for a feed pad when the farm (160 hectares) is only growing 16-17 tonne/hectare.  Why can’t we have grass that can fill all these needs? That can act as a crop and  be fed to the cows in the rotation.  That’s what I’m looking for! I have tried the crops thing (triticale, barley etc) and was somewhat disillusioned.  Then along comes Dominate – so we gave it a go.  Bugger! We didn’t put enough in! Absolutely amazing! I’ve found it! Next year – Autumn 50 hectares at least! I don’t care if no one else does it.  I’m happy and that is all I care about!  Come and have a look – Dominate will revolutionise my system!

“We’ve been using Stride for more than 8 years now, the stock love it, they do really well on it, and the price is fair”

“We have grown Dominate four years this year, and our yields are getting better each year.  The sugar levels are really high at over 20% and Metabolizable Energy (ME) at 11.8 on our herbage test. This year we cut silage and although it was a cold spring with generally poor growth, the grass was over one metre in length height all over the paddocks, very evenly, with the high sugar and (ME) excellent, it has got us ahead with our reserve of feed, and much higher than average quality, than other grasses. We recommend this grass to any farmer wishing to increase his production and maintain sustainable growth, as our fertiliser program is in line with the new rules being introduced.”
